Our Environmental Mission

We founded Cuurve because we were tired of seeing fashion dominated by plastic-based materials manufactured thousands of miles away. The environmental cost of fast fashion—from carbon-heavy shipping to synthetic materials that never biodegrade—motivated us to do things differently.

Our mission is simple: create beautiful, lasting garments through slow fashion principles while being mindful of our carbon footprint at every decision. Every Cuurve piece is designed by real women who understand both style and sustainability. We prioritise natural materials, local production where possible, and designs meant to be worn and loved for years, not seasons.

This isn't just about making clothes—it's about making choices that respect both the women who wear our designs and the planet we all share.

Carbon footprint & Climate impact

At Cuurve, we've kept the planet in mind when designing how to build our pieces. Here are our key environmental impact numbers:

🌱 51% lower carbon footprint - Our Austrian micromodal vs. conventional cotton

🌊 89% carbon reduction - Our ECONYL® regenerated nylon (from fishing nets!) vs. conventional nylon

🚢 95% less transport emissions - UK sourcing vs. typical global fashion supply chains

🏭 75% below industry average - Our overall carbon footprint vs. standard fashion production

♻️ 100% infinitely recyclable - Our ECONYL® nylon can be regenerated endlessly without quality loss

Made in Yorkshire, Sourced in Britain.

Made in Leeds, Yorkshire - We manufacture all Cuurve pieces locally in Leeds, supporting skilled artisans in our own backyard while eliminating the carbon footprint of overseas shipping.

UK sourced materials & packaging - From our Austrian micromodal and ECONYL® fabrics to natural rubber organic elastics, care labels, and luxury magnetic boxes, we source everything from small UK businesses. Even our recyclable white packaging is made locally, keeping our entire supply chain within reach and drastically reducing transport emissions.

Small batch production - Our local approach allows us to produce thoughtfully in smaller quantities, reducing waste and ensuring each piece meets our exacting standards.

Supporting local craft - Every Cuurve garment supports Yorkshire's textile heritage and provides meaningful employment in our community.

Our UN Sustainable Development Goals Commitment

At Cuurve, we're proud to actively contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through measurable actions and defined targets.

Our Targets:

By 2026: Achieve 100% sustainable materials across all products (currently using Austrian Micromodal and ECONYL® regenerated nylon)

Ongoing: Maintain 95% lower carbon footprint than industry average through Yorkshire manufacturing (300-mile supply chain vs global shipping)

Product Longevity: Every Cuurve piece designed to last minimum 3x longer than fast fashion alternatives, reducing waste and consumption

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Our Mission: Supporting quality employment and local economic growth through ethical manufacturing.

Our Targets:

Ongoing: Ensure 100% of supply chain workers receive above living wage under UK employment law

By 2026: Expand partnerships with 5+ additional UK small businesses in our supply chain

Always: Maintain direct relationships with all manufacturing partners to ensure fair working conditions

How you can Help

Choose slow fashion where you can - Invest in quality pieces that last you longer. Every thoughtfully made garment you choose over fast fashion reduces demand for wasteful production and supports brands committed to environmental responsibility.

Care for your clothes - Wash less frequently, use cold water, and air dry when possible. These simple steps extend your garments' lifespan while reducing energy consumption and preventing microfiber pollution.

Repair and reimagine - Before discarding, consider repairs, alterations, or creative styling. A small mend or adjustment can give your favorite pieces years more wear.

Share and swap - Organise clothing swaps with friends or donate pieces you no longer wear. Keeping clothes in circulation prevents waste and helps others discover quality garments.

Recycle your underwear responsibly - When your Cuurve pieces finally reach end-of-life (after 3+ years!), here's how to recycle them properly:

H&M stores accept any brand of underwear and bras through their garment collecting program

Marks & Spencer takes old underwear and bras in-store for recycling via their Shwopping initiative

Local textile recycling banks often accept underwear - check your council website for locations

TRAID charity shops accept underwear donations if still in good condition

For our ECONYL® pieces, the nylon can be infinitely recycled - look for ECONYL® collection points

Never put underwear in general household recycling bins - the elastic and mixed materials need specialist textile recycling.

Ask questions - Support brands that are transparent about their materials, manufacturing, and environmental impact. Your purchasing decisions drive industry change toward more sustainable practices.
